Main Purpose of the Job
A utility manager plans, organizes, directs, and controls utility operations in a company. The Utility Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations, maintenance and improvement of their organization’s utility services.
Key Responsibilities
• Serve as the primary point of contact for all utility providers, including electric, gas, water, sewer, and trash
• Reviewing operational metrics such as energy usage, production levels, and labor costs to ensure compliance with industry standards
• Scheduling regular maintenance for equipment such as boilers, air conditioning systems, pumps, or water treatment facilities
• Conducting fire drills and other safety programs to ensure that employees are prepared in case of an emergency
• Monitoring the performance of service providers such as contractors or utility companies to ensure that services are being delivered satisfactorily
• Overseeing the development of new utility systems or facilities such as gas pipelines or power plants
• Managing an organization’s accounts receivable and payable, including billing customers and collecting payments on behalf of the organization
• Coordinating with outside agencies such as insurance companies or regulators to obtain approval of new projects or policies
• Investigating customer complaints to determine cause and recommending solutions
• Manage and reconcile utility budgets on a monthly basis
• Prepare and submit monthly reports detailing usage, costs, and variances
• Develop and implement strategies to reduce overall consumption and costs
• Work with building management and engineering staff to identify and implement energy efficiency measures
Job Requirements
• Graduate in Electrical/Mechanical engineering
• 5-6 years’ experience in utility management or similar fields
• Experience in Utility equipment’s like Boiler, Generator, Air compressor, Water Treatment plant & Effluent Treatment
• Proven track record of reducing operational costs while maintaining or improving service levels
• Strong understanding of regulatory compliance issues for utilities
• Excellent project management skills
• Superior people management skills with the ability to develop and motivate teams

• Ability to identify problems, find potential solutions and implement them
• Leadership and critical thinking skills
