Location: Niger State, Nigeria
Key Responsibilities
Recruitment: Recruiting small-sized farmers and cooperatives to participate in the program
▪ Conduct on-site roadshows to promote the program and assess farmers’ needs
▪ Undertake on-site visits to convince farmers to join the program
▪ Coordinate with senior and lead agronomist during the contractual phase with farmers
On-boarding: Integrating farmers from the contract to the launch
▪ Prepare the on-boarding process for farmers (materials, communication elements, practices, etc.)
▪ Welcome farmers and provide all necessary information during training sessions (organizing practice demonstrations, etc.) ▪ Manage data collection from farmers and cooperatives (field mapping, practices, etc.)
▪ Support the implementation of practices before and during the planting season
Post-launch: Providing continuous support to farmers
- Undertake regular field visits to farms’ locations (regions, zones) to monitor and evaluate project implementation quality
- Assist farmers by offering solutions, suggestions, and advice as needed
- Address technical questions from farmers during weekly or biweekly contacts
- Increase carbon credit production with farmers by developing practice change plans and prescriptions, and supporting the implementation ofadditional practice changes if necessary
Qualifications/Requirements
- Agronomist degree with a focus on Agriculture
▪ 2+ years in Agribusiness with first experience in implementation of regenerative practices - ▪ Proven experience in successfully converting farmers to regenerative agricultural practices
- Expertise & knowledge
- In-depth knowledge of the Nigerian agricultural landscape, main crops and regenerative practices applied Language:
- Fluency in English & local languages is required (Haussa)
