Job Summary

Our client, an educational institution is looking to hire for the position of “Head Teacher”. The Head Teacher is responsible for the effective general management of  the school, for ensuring the provision of academic leadership and strategic  vision, and for the quality of student experience.   The Head Teacher is  ultimately responsible for the smooth running of a school, the academic  achievement of its pupils and the management of its staff.   

Job Responsibilities:

  • Be punctual to school and all school activities, 
  • Provide the overall leadership and management of the educational program of Marymount School.
  • Interpret government educational policies and ensure that such policies are properly implemented, in discussion with Management.
  • Work with the School Administrator in creating an effective learning environment for students by assuring that an appropriate curriculum and effective instruction is being delivered in each classroom.
  • Develop appropriate programs for the school. Draw up the school timetable and design schemes of work in consultation with the class teachers.
  • Facilitate the planning and application of emerging technologies in the classroom.
  • Monitor pupils’ progress and maintain appropriate records, including the Log Book and Admission Register.
  • Administer academic record keeping. Mark teachers’ lesson notes and diaries on a regular basis, and monitor Assessment Records.
  • Be actively engaged in daily teaching.
  • Set performance goals and objectives.
  • Develop and implement guidelines for student conduct and a discipline plan with rules and consequences for pupils’ behavior.
  • Improve the quality of the learning environment by strengthening the knowledge and skills of the school staff. 
  • Liaise with Management on the day to day running of the school, and submit regular reports on school matters.
  • Maintain discipline and professionalism among teaching and teaching support staff.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 5 years’ headship/administrative experience
  • BSc/BA in business administration, social studies or relevant field
  • Preferably a female. Young, experienced and tech savvy.
  • Knowledge and delivery of The UK & Nigerian Curricula at Nursery and Primary stages. 
  • Teaching professional qualification. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • ICT compliance is a MUST.
