Business Development Manager (Reinsurance)

Job Purpose: The Business Development Manager is responsible for implementing business development activities by identifying new leads and opportunities. They contribute to defining the strategic plan, coordinate projects, and aim for sustainable and profitable growth aligned with the organization’s vision and strategy.


Essential Responsibilities

Strategic Contribution:

  • Execute business development strategy to support Company‚Äôs vision, mission, and corporate objectives.
  • Prepare market-leading business development plans.

Business Development:

  • Collate market intelligence and create a comprehensive market database.
  • Share market information with the Underwriting team.
  • Craft effective market entry approaches.
  • Define and execute portfolio management plans.
  • Manage the book of business, service clients, and build/maintain client relationships.
  • Facilitate communication between underwriters and customers.
  • Meet clients to understand their business needs and aspirations.
  • Design individual product solutions in collaboration with underwriters.
  • Drive product uptake by customers.
  • Position Company as a customer-centric partner.
  • Pre-analyze opportunities to ensure alignment with risk appetite.
  • Collaborate with underwriters in customer interactions.
  • Review renewal pipelines and follow up.

Market Intelligence:

  • Create and update comprehensive industry, competitor, and customer models.
  • Perform systematic analysis of key industry trends, economic and political environments, legal issues, and competitors.
  • Provide market and competitive insights to the leadership team.
  • Supply market and competitive intelligence for strategic planning.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of data sources.

Governance & Reporting:

  • Ensure compliance with corporate policies.
  • Prepare timely and accurate reports for Business Development managers.

Budgeting:

  • Contribute to the region’s revenue and expense budget.
  • Assist in monitoring production, business development costs, collections, and portfolio performance.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Analyze competitors’ performance.
  • Support in developing training materials and presentations.
  • Assist in the publication of articles in corporate magazines and newsletters.
  • Develop and deliver marketing materials for Company
